Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who specialises in Autism and looking for a new opportunity?
A small SEN college based in Haringey, N22, which caters for students aged between 19 to 25 years old with Autism, SLD and Complex Needs are looking for enthusiastic and resilient Special Needs teaching assistants to join them ASAP.
Job Description
This role will involve providing general classroom support, and as a Special Needs teaching assistant, you may also be asked to work on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. The successful special needs teaching assistant will need to be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in your approach and be able to work as part of a team. You will need excellent communication skills, along with patience and enthusiasm. Previous experience with SEND is a requirement, as well as a willingness to provide personal care. Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
Understanding and experience using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential. The school are also open to receiving applications from people who have previously worked as support/care worker.
This is a full-time, long-term role to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the next academic year. (July 2025)
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Previous SEND experience is essential
- Makaton and PECS experience - highly desirable but not essential
- Behaviour Management Skills
- Previous experience as a support worker/care worker
