Job Title: Part-Time GCSE / A Level English Teacher
Location: Liverpool
Start Date: ASAP (until July 2026, with potential to become permanent)
Interviews: Immediate
Are you an English teacher who can inspire young people and have a bit of banter along the way?
We are seeking a passionate and engaging GCSE or A Level English Teacher to join our team at a specialist sports academy in Liverpool. This is a unique opportunity to teach a small group of 16–19-year-olds who are following a slightly tailored English curriculum alongside their athletic development.
The Role:
- Part-time: 2.5 days per week
- Monday & Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
- Additional hours on Thursday
- Start ASAP, continuing until July 2026 initially
- Potential to become permanent for the right candidate
About the Setting
You’ll be teaching a small class of post-16 learners within a supportive sports academy environment. Our students are ambitious in their sporting pathways and need an English teacher who can make the subject relevant, engaging and accessible alongside their training commitments.
This is not a “sit in rows and copy from the board” environment. We’re looking for someone who can:
- Deliver high-quality GCSE and/or A Level English lessons
- Adapt schemes of work to suit a slightly tailored curriculum
- Build strong relationships with learners
- Motivate and encourage students who may not see English as their main passion
- Bring positive energy, humour and a bit of good-natured banter to the classroom
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience teaching GCSE and/or A Level English
- Be confident working with 16–19-year-olds
- Have strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Understand how to balance high expectations with encouragement
- Bring personality, enthusiasm and resilience
Experience working in alternative provisions, post-16 settings or sports-focused environments would be an advantage, but not essential.
Why Join Us?
- Small class sizes
- Supportive and collaborative team
- Opportunity to shape and influence curriculum delivery
- Real scope for the role to become permanent
- Support from dedicated and knowledgeable specialist consultants with 13 years experience
- Continual professional development through FREE online training
- Competitive pay rates related to your experience (Please note that the advertised pay rate is inclusive of holiday pay) until permanent
- Refer a friend bonus with £100 each in vouchers
If you’re an English teacher who believes in high standards, strong relationships and the power of encouragement (with a touch of humour), we’d love to hear from you.
