Description

Teacher – Special Education Needs
Start Date: January 2026 | Full-time | Fixed-term

About the Role
We are partnering with Chalk Education to recruit an inspiring and committed teacher to join a highly regarded, Outstanding-rated special school in Liverpool. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a nurturing, inclusive environment tailored to the needs of children and young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching and learning within your assigned classrooms, adapting strategies to meet a wide range of needs.
  • Create a supportive and stimulating learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to engage, achieve and flourish.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists and senior leaders.
  • Monitor pupil progress rigorously, using informed assessment and data to adapt your approach and ensure strong outcomes.
  • Support positive behaviour and pastoral development, fostering a culture of respect, resilience and growth.
  • Engage with parents, carers and external specialists to provide a consistent and holistic approach to each pupil’s education.

Person Specification
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and has recent experience teaching within a special educational needs setting.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of effective pedagogy for pupils with a variety of learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Applies creative and flexible approaches to teaching, drawing on differentiated planning, multi-sensory activities and meaningful assessment.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, and the ability to develop positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Has the drive and desire to make a difference, with a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Contributes positively to school culture—promoting inclusion, safeguarding and a genuine love of learning.

Why This Role?
This is not just a job—it’s a chance to make a profound difference in children’s lives every single day. As part of a smaller-roll school, you will benefit from excellent staff-pupil relationships, high levels of support and a collaborative professional environment. There is genuine potential to advance your career within the wider network and to access high-quality CPD and coaching through Chalk Education.
