Chalk Education is recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support KS4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist provision based in Atherton.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people who require additional support to engage in education and develop positive behaviours.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students aged 14–16 who present with SEMH needs and associated behavioural challenges. You will provide targeted support both in and out of the classroom, helping students to regulate their emotions, build resilience, and re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support to KS4 students
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual plans
- Build positive, professional relationships with students
- Support students to manage emotions and develop coping strategies
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Promote a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs
- Strong behaviour management skills
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- The ability to build trust and rapport with challenging students
- Experience in alternative provisions, PRUs, or specialist settings (desirable)
