About the Role
Chalk Education is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in schools across South Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting their learning, development, and well-being.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored support in the classroom, assist with individual learning plans, and help students develop independence and confidence. You may also support students during social activities, transitions, and other aspects of school life.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and supporting learning for students with SEND
- Adapt resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs
- Support social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Encourage independence and self-confidence in students
- Monitor and report on student progress
- Support pupils during breaks, transitions, and extracurricular activities
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a school environment
- Is patient, empathetic, and adaptable
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Can follow instructions and work proactively to support student needs
- Holds or is working toward a relevant qualification (NVQ, CACHE, BTEC) – desirable but not essential
