Start Date: September 2025
Working Pattern: Full-Time (Monday–Friday split across two children)
Daily Rate: £90–£110 PAYE
Contract: Long-term with a half-term probationary period
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in N17 is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a split role supporting pupils in both Year 2 and Year 5, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference across the school.
The Role:
- Year 2 (Mon–Wed): One-to-one support for a pre-verbal child with Autism, focusing on communication strategies, sensory regulation and engagement in class routines.
- Year 5 (Wed–Fri): General classroom support with an emphasis on delivering calm, therapeutic responses to behaviour, building trust, and modelling positive routines.
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to tailor support strategies, using your knowledge of Autism and positive behaviour approaches to meet each child’s needs.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, communication needs, or challenging behaviour
- Familiar with PECS, Makaton, or other non-verbal communication tools (advantageous)
- Calm, consistent and confident in behaviour management using a therapeutic approach
- Strong communication and adaptability to work across year groups
- Available to commit long-term from September
