Job Description
We have a role to start as soon as possible for a full-time Teaching Assistant who specialises in behaviour support, mental health and wellbeing.
The role is to work in an Alternative Provision with children/young people ranging from 5 – 19 years. Each class has approximately 10 students who are all considered vulnerable, have additional learning needs and challenging behaviours. Experience managing challenging behaviours and supporting those with social, emotional and mental health issues, is essential. Training in de-escalation/positive behaviour management would be an advantage such as Team Teach or MAPA.
Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
To be considered for this role you will need:
- A minimum of 3 months' experience of working with children
- Experienced of supporting children with mental health
- A degree in Psychology, Counselling or similar would be an advantage
- Experience working in a similar setting is desired
Additional requirements:
- References confirming suitability for role
- Commitment to Safeguarding
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willing to apply
- Eligibility to work in the UK
