Chalk Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Runcorn, seeking an experienced and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team for the new academic term.
This role involves working on a one-to-one basis with students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who have been identified with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and display challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will provide tailored support either within the classroom or in a designated one-to-one space, depending on the needs of the student.
You will play a vital role in helping these pupils engage with the GCSE curriculum, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting their emotional well-being. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in a young person’s life and has the patience, resilience, and confidence to manage challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Assist in delivering curriculum-based activities at GCSE level
- Implement personalised strategies to manage behaviour and encourage engagement
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviours
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
This role offers a competitive daily rate of £90–£95, dependent on experience.
