Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate sports coach to join our dynamic team, working with students in secondary education, particularly those exhibiting challenging behaviour. As a sports coach, you will play a key role in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development while fostering positive relationships and supporting the emotional and social needs of students with complex behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate a variety of engaging activities and programmes for secondary school students.
  • Work closely with students exhibiting challenging behaviour, using positive reinforcement techniques to motivate and engage them.
  • Support students in building resilience, improving self-esteem, and developing important life skills through sport.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Develop tailored strategies to manage behaviour in line with the school’s policies and ethos.
  • Encourage teamwork, communication, and respect among students both in and out of sports sessions.
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and the school leadership team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in sports coaching, preferably in a secondary school setting, or working with children and young people.
  • A strong understanding of working with students with challenging behaviours and additional needs.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 1, 2, or 3 sports coaching qualifications) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • A positive and proactive approach to managing classroom behaviour and conflict.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
