SEND Teaching Assistant – South Liverpool
Location: South Liverpool (specialist provision for ages 11–19)
Job Type: Full-time, Term-time only – Immediate start (long-term placement)
About the Role
Chalk Education is seeking a compassionate, proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated special educational provision in South Liverpool. You’ll be part of a nurturing environment that places a strong emphasis on personalised support and developing independence through highly tailored learning pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to students with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties
- Assist in implementing bespoke learning plans, including pre-formal, semi-formal, and formal curriculum pathways that embed independence, communication, and sensory-rich learning approaches
- Support personal care, mobility, and daily life skills
- Help students engage in community, vocational, and outdoor learning opportunities such as Forest School, off-site visits, and travel training
- Adapt learning materials and encourage participation across communication, self-help, PSHE, and vocational activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and leaders to monitor and support student progress
Person Specification
- Experience with children or young people with SEND, including those with PMLD, SLD, or ASD (preferably, but not essential)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Desire to help every learner reach their full potential through compassionate, personalised support
