A well-resourced, child-centred special-needs primary school in Ealing is looking for a skilled Teaching Assistant who can make an immediate impact with pupils aged 2 – 11 presenting with autism (ASD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and complex needs. You’ll join a forward-thinking team that values clear communication, mutual support and evidence-based practice.
What You’ll Do
- Individualised support – work 1:1 and in small groups to embed personalised learning targets.
- Curriculum delivery – adapt sensory-based activities so every child can access core subjects and life-skills sessions.
- Behaviour & communication – apply consistent strategies (PECS, Makaton, visual schedules, positive-handling plans) to reduce anxiety and build independence.
- Personal care – provide dignified assistance with feeding, toileting and mobility when required.
- Multi-disciplinary teamwork – liaise daily with class teachers, therapists and families to review progress and refine EHCP targets.
- Safeguarding & record-keeping – log achievements and concerns accurately so nothing falls through the cracks.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience with children or young people who have ASD, SLD or complex medical needs.
- Confident behaviour-management skills and the resilience to stay calm under pressure.
- Willingness to deliver intimate-care routines professionally and respectfully.
