Job Title: Special Needs Teacher (SLD & ASD)
Location: Mill Hill, NW7
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time (potential to become permanent)

School Overview

A fantastic SEND school in Mill Hill, NW7, is looking for passionate Special Needs Teachers experienced in Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism. This full-time role starts in September 2025 and continues for the entire academic year, with a strong potential to become permanent.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Class Details: Lead a small, mixed-age class spanning EYFS to KS2, where pupils are working at P-levels. Many students have additional medical, sensory, or physical needs.
  • Curriculum & Learning: Experience with EYFS is a plus, given the developmental levels of the pupils.
  • Differentiated Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to each child’s academic, social, and physical goals.
  • Collaborative Support: Work closely with two friendly and experienced LSAs who know the students’ needs and school procedures well.
  • Communication Methods: Familiarity with PECS and Makaton is valuable (training can be provided).
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS: Essential for this position.
  • SEN Knowledge: Demonstrable understanding of and enthusiasm for working with students who have additional needs.
  • Flexibility & Enthusiasm: A proactive approach and willingness to learn are crucial.
  • Experience: Prior work in an SEN setting is ideal, but strong primary-trained teachers eager to specialize in SEN are welcomed.
  • Communication Skills: Comfortable using or learning Makaton and PECS to support students’ communication needs.
