Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Chalk Education is recruiting for a specialist provision in Greater Manchester that delivers personalised, therapeutic education to learners who have struggled in mainstream settings. The school works with pupils presenting with complex behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, helping them re-engage with education and achieve meaningful progress.

The environment is nurturing, structured, and consistent, prioritising positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, and personalised learning. Pupils follow individualised programmes combining the national curriculum with therapeutic and behavioural support, enabling them to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. A strong multi-disciplinary team ethos ensures every pupil receives holistic support tailored to their needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons adapted to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and associated challenges
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-professional team, including teaching assistants and therapists, to embed strategies that support learning and wellbeing
  • Implement positive behaviour management techniques to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress, adapting approaches as required
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEMH or complex behavioural needs
  • Be skilled in adapting the curriculum to meet diverse learning and developmental needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be resilient, patient, and reflective, with a commitment to inclusive practice
  • Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times
  • Have experience working in UK schools (SEMH or specialist provision desirable)

Essential requirements:

  • Professional references confirming suitability to work with young people
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

What we offer:

  • Dedicated support from a knowledgeable Chalk Education consultant
  • Competitive daily pay rates
  • Long-term, full-time placement in a supportive SEMH-focused school
  • Refer a Friend Scheme – earn £150 in vouchers
