Chalk Education is currently recruiting for a committed and resilient behaviour mentor to work at a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Billinge. This is a full-time role, working with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils who present very challenging behaviour due to their social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who face barriers to learning. The school is seeking someone with prior UK experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour, ideally within a secondary school or specialist provision setting.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis to help them access learning and manage behaviour.
- Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external agencies to support each pupil’s individual needs.
- Creating a safe, nurturing environment where students feel valued and understood.
Requirements:
- Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour in the UK is essential.
- Confidence and resilience when managing difficult situations and behaviours.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable young people.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships quickly.
- A valid enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for one through Chalk Education.
