Job Opportunity: Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Nursery Class (Mainstream School)
Location: St. Helens WA9
Contract: Full-Time, Monday – Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Start Date: 3rd November 2025
End Date: July 2026

Chalk Education are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream school’s Nursery class on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and helping them to develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
The Role
You will work closely with the class teacher to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing 1:1 and small-group assistance to help them access learning and make progress in line with their individual needs. The role requires a caring, patient approach and a strong understanding of early childhood development.
Requirements
- Experience working within the EYFS (Nursery or Reception)
- A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Early Years Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g. speech and language needs, ASD, communication delays)
- Commitment to working full-time until July 2026
- A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one via Chalk)
