SEN Behaviour Mentors – Full Time (Minimum 2 Years UK Experience Required)

Chalk are recruiting full-time SEN Behaviour Mentors to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Cheshire and the surrounding areas.
We are looking for committed, experienced professionals with at least 2 years of UK-based experience working with children and young people who present with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour.
Job Description
As an SEN Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) both in the classroom and during non-classroom activities such as lunch and break times.
You’ll work closely with the class teacher to assist with learning activities, provide 1:1 or small group support, and help create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.
This role is perfect for a patient, adaptable individual who can build positive relationships, use effective behaviour management strategies, and act as a positive role model for pupils.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting SEN/SEMH pupils in UK schools
- Full-time availability (Monday–Friday, term time)
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
- Ideally, de-escalation or positive handling training
- A positive attitude and flexible approach
- Confidence supporting personal care where needed
Additional requirements:
- References confirming suitability for the role
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
- Eligibility to work in the UK
