Chalk Education are seeking committed and empathetic Behaviour Mentors to work within a range of schools across South Liverpool. We are looking for individuals who can build positive relationships with young people, understand their behavioural needs, and provide tailored support to help them thrive in both learning and social environments. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference in pupils’ lives while working within supportive and dedicated school teams.

Please note that the advertised pay rate is inclusive of holiday pay.

Key Duties

  • Provide targeted behaviour support to pupils, helping them understand and manage their emotions and actions
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive conduct and engagement
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to encourage self-esteem, resilience, and responsible decision-making
  • Support pupils during lessons, transition times, and unstructured parts of the school day
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop personalised behaviour support plans
  • Assist with de-escalation, conflict resolution, and restorative approaches when required
  • Support children with SEND or additional needs who may present behavioural challenges
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing updates with staff and parents when appropriate

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach when working with children who display challenging behaviour
  • Ability to adapt support methods to suit individual needs and learning styles
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, psychology, or related fields are advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary school team
