The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Secondary Art Teacher who has demonstrable experience working with SEN learners. You will be responsible for teaching nine classes of students with diverse needs, helping them explore and excel in creative art projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Engaging Art Lessons: Plan and deliver creative, accessible art lessons tailored to various learning styles and SEN requirements.
- Differentiate Instruction: Adapt and differentiate curriculum content to ensure each student can participate and progress.
- Promote Inclusive Practice: Work in tandem with SEN staff, Teaching Assistants, and other specialists to ensure each student’s individual needs are supported.
- Monitor Progress: Assess student performance, record progress, and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and the wider school community.
- Collaboration: Attend regular staff meetings and continuous professional development (CPD) sessions, sharing best practices and contributing to the school’s inclusive ethos.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and supportive learning atmosphere, using effective behavior management strategies to keep students engaged and motivated.
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialisation in Art.
- Proven experience or strong interest in working with students with SEN in a secondary setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage and inspire diverse learners.
- A patient, creative approach to teaching, reflecting an understanding of inclusive education principles.
- Team-oriented attitude, ready to collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to support student success.
