Why this post is worth a look

  • Impact that matters. You’ll work mainly 1:1 with pupils unable to attend mainstream school due to long-term illness, helping them regain confidence and re-engage with learning.
  • Serious professional growth. Regular coaching, funded external courses and generous INSET days keep your practice fresh.
  • Stress-cutting logistics. Five-minute stroll from the Elizabeth Line and on-site parking.
  • Predictable working pattern. Fixed daytime hours, no playground duty, and a leadership team that switches the lights off on time.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver high-quality English teaching across KS3 and KS4, plugging gaps and preparing pupils for GCSEs.
  • Design personalised learning programmes (mostly 1:1, occasionally very small groups) that rebuild literacy, resilience, and ambition.
  • Take the lead on behaviour strategies for your caseload, backed by an experienced pupil-support team.
  • Hold a small management responsibility (TLR available): shape the curriculum, mentor LSAs, and contribute to whole-school policy.
  • Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

What you need to bring

  • Essential:
    • Qualified Teacher Status or substantial UK classroom experience.
    • A rock-solid behaviour-management toolkit and the calm to use it.
    • Proven success in raising attainment with disengaged learners.
    • Experience working with young people who present challenging behaviour and/or have diagnosed or undiagnosed SEND.
    • Resilience, humour, and an unshakeable belief that every pupil can improve.
  • Desirable:
    • Background in Alternative Provision, PRU, hospital-school or similar.
    • Exam-board marking experience.
    • Additional qualifications in SEND, mental-health support, or literacy intervention.

Additional requirements:

  • References confirming suitability for role
