A small ‘Outstanding’ special educational needs school based in Islington,N1, catering for students aged between 13 – 19 years old with autistic spectrum disorders and Speech and Language Difficulties to join them ASAP.
Job Description
The successful SEN teaching assistant will be required to provide 1:1 classroom support. As a special needs teaching assistant, you will also help to develop their social communication, interaction and interpretation skills and play an active role in developing their confidence, self-esteem and independence. Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
The ideal special needs teaching assistant will need to be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in their approach and be able to work as part of a team.
Previous experience with SEND is a requirement. Understanding and experience of using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential.
This is a full-time, long-term role to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025)
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Previous SEND experience is essential – specifically with Autism
- Makaton and PECS experience – highly desirable but not essential
- Dedicated and passionate about education
