Teaching Assistant – SEND Secondary School (ASD)

Chalk Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a SEND Secondary School in Southport. This is a long-term position, supporting pupils where all students have a diagnosis of Autism.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support students both academically and emotionally. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with Autism on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with classroom learning and differentiated activities
- Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
- Promoting independence, confidence, and engagement
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism/SEND (school or care setting)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to commit to a full-time, long-term role
