A primary school in Chester is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
About the Role
You will be working closely with teachers to support pupils with Special Educational Needs, providing a mix of 1:1 support and leading small-group interventions. The role is ideal for someone patient, nurturing, and passionate about helping children thrive in a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, helping them access learning activities and remain engaged
- Lead and assist with small-group intervention work
- Support classroom routines and help maintain a positive learning environment
- Work alongside teaching staff and SEN staff to implement personalised learning plans
- Encourage social, emotional, and academic development in line with school expectations
Requirements
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience working with children with SEN (ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, etc.)
- Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent, calm support
- Reliable, professional, and committed to long-term work
