A vibrant ‘Good’ three-form entry Primary school based in Leyton, E10, is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support two Year 4 pupils with ASD. This is a full-time long-term role to start ASAP.
Job Description
The ideal Special Needs teaching assistant will have a proven track record in working with children with Autism. The two pupils you will support do not have behavioural difficulties but require consistent guidance to stay focused on tasks assigned by the teacher.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide both pastoral and academic support, working closely with staff to safeguard and promote the welfare of the children. You should demonstrate strong relationship-building skills and have the ability to elevate levels of literacy and numeracy among the pupils.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering lessons tailored to students with special educational needs, focusing on numeracy and literacy skills.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) for students, particularly those with autism.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging communication and social skills among students.
- Provide care and supervision during classroom activities and breaks, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
- Collaborate with educational staff and parents to track student progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Experience with ASD
- Familiarity with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- A dedication to and passion for education
