A vibrant and happy one-form entry Primary school based in, Newham, E13, are in need of a Special Needs teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism and Speech and Language Difficulties. The role will start ASAP and continue on until the end of the next academic year (July 2026)

Job Description

The ideal Special Needs teaching assistant will have previous experience working with pupils with Autism as well as speech and language difficulties. The pupil has no behaviour difficulties but requires guidance to remain focused on the tasks assigned by the teacher as well as some assistance with their communication.

Patience is key for the role and ideally, you will be able to demonstrate strong relationship-building skills as a SEND teaching assistant and the ability to raise levels of Numeracy and Literacy. Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Experience with Autism and Speech and Language Difficulties
  • Practical Approach to meeting the individual needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Dedicated and passionate about education
