Job Title: Special Needs Teacher (Complex Needs & ASD)
Location: Enfield, EN3
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time (Potential to become permanent)

School Overview

A wonderful SEND school in Enfield, EN3, is seeking a passionate Special Needs Teacher with experience in Complex Needs and Autism. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing for the entire academic year, with strong potential to become permanent.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Class Details: You will lead a mixed Key Stage 1 class of 6 pupils, all working at P-levels. Many have additional medical and sensory needs, as well as physical impairments.
  • Curriculum: Experience with EYFS can be advantageous due to the learning levels and developmental needs of the pupils.
  • Differentiated Teaching: Plan and deliver lessons that cater to each child’s individual requirements—academically, socially, and physically.
  • Support Staff: Work alongside two friendly and experienced LSAs who know the students and school procedures well.
  • Communication Methods: Familiarity with PECS and Makaton is a plus (training can be provided).
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS: Essential for this role.
  • SEN Knowledge: Demonstrable understanding of and passion for working with students who have Special Educational Needs.
  • Flexibility & Enthusiasm: A can-do attitude and willingness to learn are vital.
  • Experience: Previous background in an SEN setting is ideal. However, the school welcomes strong primary-trained teachers eager to specialize in SEN.
  • Communication Skills: Comfortable using or learning Makaton and PECS.
