Are you an SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs? Chalk Education is currently recruiting for a specialist primary setting in South Manchester that supports children who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance to succeed in school.

This provision places strong emphasis on consistency, routine, and positive adult relationships. Pupils are taught in small groups within a calm, structured environment designed to reduce anxiety and promote emotional regulation. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils feel understood, supported, and able to engage with learning.

In this role, you will provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs, both inside and outside of the classroom. You will assist in managing behaviour, reinforcing individual support plans, and delivering interventions that help pupils develop coping strategies and positive social skills. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has hands-on experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Can manage challenging behaviour confidently and calmly
  • Is Team Teach trained, or open to completing the training
  • Has experience within SEN, specialist, or alternative education settings
  • Communicates clearly and builds positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is adaptable, resilient, and emotionally aware
  • Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Has worked in UK schools previously

Essential requirements:

  • References that confirm suitability for working with children
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service
  • The right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

What we offer:

  • Support from a dedicated education consultant
  • Competitive daily rates of pay
  • A long-term, full-time role within a supportive SEMH-focused setting
  • Refer a Friend Scheme – earn £150 in vouchers
