Here at Chalk Education, we’re excited to be partnering with a registered charity in Thatcham and Newbury that provides education and residential care for autistic young people with complex needs, aged 5–25. Their mission is to help them build a brighter, more independent future.

Job Description
In this role, you will support pupils who may present challenging behaviours, working one-to-one, in small groups, or with the whole class. A good understanding of SEND is helpful, and experience using de-escalation techniques is beneficial. You will need to be resilient and calm, as some days may involve heightened emotions or peer disputes.
We are looking for a positive, flexible individual who can build strong relationships and provide stability. The school offers excellent facilities and support. You will assist the class teacher with lessons and activities, ensuring a happy and safe environment for pupils to learn and thrive.
This is a long-term, ongoing position, working Monday to Friday.
To be considered for this Behaviour Mentor role you will need:
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH and challenging behaviour
- Ideally trained in de-escalation and positive handling
- Positive attitude with a flexible, adaptable approach
- References confirming suitability for role
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
- Eligibility to work in the UK
