An exceptional specialist school in Basingstoke is searching for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their remarkable team. This school serves children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs, and they need someone like you to make a difference!

Imagine this: you’re a constant pillar of support for incredible SEND children, aged 4 to 11, as they work through behaviour and mental health challenges. You’ll provide stability and encouragement, helping them navigate emotions, develop coping skills, and build positive relationships. Through personalized interventions and compassionate guidance, you’ll play a vital role in their daily lives, enhancing their overall well-being and setting them up for success.

No prior experience in a similar role? That’s okay! Personal experience supporting SEND is just as valuable. A clean DBS is essential, and if you need support with your application, we’re here to assist!

If you aspire to become an educational or occupational psychologist, therapeutic support worker, or SEND teacher, this role provides an excellent pathway for growth and development! This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with on-site therapists and psychologists. You’ll receive mentorship and have opportunities to shadow sessions, gaining invaluable insights. Plus, you’ll acquire priceless experience in supporting Special Needs and Mental Health issues.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with teachers to address behavioural and special needs in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Enthusiastically deliver tailored interventions for students with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
  • Support lesson delivery by assisting with objectives, materials, and engaging learning activities.
  • Lead activities for small student groups, creating a sense of excitement and teamwork.
  • Assist in testing and assessment, celebrating each student’s progress.

The school offers comprehensive SEND-related training, including specialized sessions on managing challenging behaviour. Additionally, for the right candidate, there are opportunities to pursue teacher training!
