Teaching Assistant – SEMH Primary School
Location: Childwall, Liverpool
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Chalk Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH primary school based in Childwall. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for the right candidate.

The school supports primary-aged children who all present with social, emotional and mental health needs, with a particular focus on attachment and trauma-related behaviours. The role requires a calm, consistent and confident approach, with the ability to build positive relationships while maintaining high boundaries and strong behaviour management.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Helping children to regulate emotions and engage in learning
• Maintaining clear structure, routines and boundaries
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
• Creating a safe, nurturing and predictable environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Essential experience working with children (school, care, youth work, or similar)
• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma or attachment needs (highly desirable)
• Strong behaviour management skills
• A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
