Description

Outstanding Autism-Specialist Primary School – N10 (Permanent)
Start: September 2025  Salary: £41,455 – £47,235 (Outer London)

The school

  • Ofsted: Outstanding, LA-maintained, reception to Year 6.
  • Learners: All pupils hold an EHCP with a primary diagnosis of autism; many work significantly below age-related expectations and show “spikey” attainment profiles.
  • Approach: Person-centred, multi-disciplinary and evidence-based (TEACCH, SCERTS, Attention Autism, PECS, Intensive Interaction).
  • Care element: Several pupils need medication routines, enteral feeding, sanitary or nappy support, moving-and-handling and other intimate-care plans. Full training and clinical guidance provided.

The role

  • Lead a class of up to eight pupils with specialist HLTAs, TAs and on-site therapists (SLT, OT, EP).
  • Blend the EYFS/Primary curriculum with autism-specific strategies, setting sharp, personalised targets drawn from each child’s EHCP.
  • Track small-step progress using Evidence for Learning and deliver precise contributions to annual reviews.
  • Embed daily functional communication, sensory regulation and life-skills teaching.
  • Work in close partnership with families and external agencies to secure genuinely holistic outcomes.
  • Model exemplary safeguarding and uphold the school’s culture of dignity, independence and respect.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or EYTS plus solid KS1 experience.
  • Proven impact in SEND or complex-needs classrooms.
  • Calm, organised, reflective and resilient.
  • Professional delivery of intimate-care plans and medication procedures.

Highly Desirable

  • Postgraduate SEN qualification (e.g. NASENCO, MEd Autism).
  • Experience drafting EHCP outcomes and leading multi-agency reviews.
  • Manual-handling or Team-Teach certification.
  • UK driving licence for community-based learning.

Why join?

  • Outstanding leadership that gives staff real autonomy and time to innovate.
  • Two extra PPA sessions each week for planning, assessment and professional dialogue.
  • Generous CPD—AET, Makaton L1-4, PECS, NHS dysphagia and sensory-integration training, all fully funded.
  • Free on-site parking, cycle scheme and an 8-minute walk from N10 with multiple bus routes.

  • Commitment to Safeguarding
