Job Title: Behaviour Mentor / Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Haringey, N17
Contract: Starting January 2025– July 2025 (Full Academic Year)

School Overview:
A welcoming two-form entry primary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor / Special Needs Teaching Assistant. You will be providing one-to-one support to a Year 4 pupil with ADHD, Dyslexia, and challenging behaviours, playing a key role in fostering a positive, focused learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalised Support: Build a trusting relationship with the child, offering tailored assistance to help them stay engaged and maintain positive behaviour throughout the school day.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement targeted strategies and interventions to address behavioural issues, promoting social and emotional development in line with the individual’s needs.
  • Collaborative Working: Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff to develop and follow individual behaviour plans, ensuring consistent, cohesive support.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Maintain a safe and supportive environment, upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.

What We’re Looking For:

  • SEMH Experience: A solid understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, with direct experience supporting pupils facing similar challenges.
  • Behaviour Management Skills: Proven ability to implement effective strategies that encourage positive conduct and academic engagement.
  • Passion and Dedication: A genuine commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or life experiences.
