Position: Special Needs Support Assistant
Pay Rate: £100 per day (DOE)
Location: Bolton, Manchester
Contract Type: Full-time, ASAP Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference for children with complex needs? Chalk Education is recruiting for specialist primary and SEN settings in Bolton, supporting pupils who require additional help to engage in learning and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

These schools focus on structured routines, personalised support, and small class or 1:1 interventions. Staff collaborate to create environments where children feel safe, supported, and able to reach their potential.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and other learning challenges

  • Assisting teachers with individualised learning programmes

  • Supporting pupils to develop social skills, communication, and confidence

  • Working alongside SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to monitor progress

  • Maintaining a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has practical experience supporting children with a variety of SEN needs

  • Can manage challenging behaviour with patience and consistency

  • Has experience in SEN, specialist, or alternative education settings

  • Builds strong relationships with children and colleagues

  • Is adaptable, resilient, and emotionally aware

  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and inclusion

  • Has experience working in UK schools

Essential requirements:

  • References that confirm suitability to work with children

  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service

  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship)
