Chalk Education has immediate opportunities for Cover Supervisors in schools across Wigan, offering a mix of daily supply and longer-term temporary placements. This is a fantastic way to gain school experience, build confidence, and make a real difference—while keeping control of when and where you work.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll step into the classroom to supervise pre-planned lessons when teachers are absent. Schools provide lesson materials, registers, and guidance, so your focus is on:
- Keeping students on task and engaged
- Managing behaviour positively and confidently
- Creating a calm, productive classroom environment
We’re Looking For People Who:
- Are confident communicating with students aged 11–16
- Have at least 2years’ experience working with young people (education, coaching, tutoring, childcare, youth work, etc.)
- Can manage classroom behaviour and keep students motivated
- Have strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Are reliable, flexible, and approachable
- A degree or studies towards one are helpful, but not essential
Experience in sports coaching, psychology, or SEND support (especially mental health awareness) is particularly valuable, but not required.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with young people in a structured setting
- References to confirm suitability
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
- Right to work in the UK
