Are you a caring individual who has experience supporting individuals with Complex Needs?

Can you use your experience and knowledge of SEND to help children and young people to develop a range of skills the classroom?

This is a long-term role starting as soon as possible with a view to becoming a permanent position. Our client school is a multi-site Special Needs School, with students aged 2 – 19 years.

This SEND school caters for students with a wide range of Complex Needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, moderate and severe learning difficulties, social emotional & mental health issues and associated challenging behaviours. All pupils have a statement of educational needs and an Education Health Care Plan. Experience and understanding of a range of SEND is necessary and knowledge of skills such as alternative communication techniques and manual handling would be beneficial.

Job Description

This Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting SEND children in the classroom as well as at lunch and break times.

You will be required to assist with personal care while maintaining the pupil’s dignity. You will work closely with the class teacher supporting the children across various activities, while providing a happy and safe learning environment.

Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Experience supporting children/young people with SEND and complex needs
  • To be comfortable and confident delivering personal care
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A caring and positive attitude with a flexible approach

  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
