The Opportunity
The School supports pupils aged 11-16 who cannot attend mainstream school and are often at risk of permanent exclusion. We are recruiting two Behaviour Mentors who can combine calm authority with genuine care and unwavering follow-through.
- Behaviour Mentor – 1:1 Support
Your mission
- Build a consistent, positive relationship with one allocated pupil.
- Keep them engaged in lessons, escorting them safely around site.
- Apply bespoke behaviour-regulation strategies designed with the SENCO and therapeutic team.
- Record triggers, interventions and daily progress with forensic accuracy.
What success looks like
The pupil completes lessons, incidents trend downward, and agreed academic-behaviour targets start moving in the right direction.
- Behaviour Mentor – Whole-School Support
Your mission
- Patrol corridors and outdoor areas, identifying emerging issues before they escalate.
- Return off-task students to class, calmly but firmly.
- Conduct wanding (hand-held metal detector) checks in line with safeguarding protocols.
- Run small-group sessions that teach self-regulation, resilience and respect.
What success looks like
Fewer call-outs, smoother lesson transitions and a calmer overall atmosphere across the School.
What We Need From You (applies to both roles)
- Proven strength in behaviour management within a school, PRU, youth-work or justice environment.
- An unflappable presence and clear, confident communication style.
- A commitment to safeguarding and restorative practice.
- Desirable—but not essential—extras include Team-Teach or MAPA training, and a full UK driving licence.
What You’ll Gain
- Immediate impact: Your interventions change a young person’s day—sometimes their trajectory—on the spot.
- Career-shaping CPD: Regular training in trauma-informed practice and accredited behaviour-support qualifications.
- Work-life balance: School-day hours and all holidays off.
- Supportive culture: A tight, multidisciplinary team that always has your back.
