Position: Behaviour Mentor (Primary SEN)
Pay Rate: £95 – £115 per day (DOE)
Location: Longsight, Manchester (Special Educational Needs School)
Contract Type: Full time, 6-month contract (Starting 05/01/26)
Are you a caring and proactive Behaviour Mentor or SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a specialist setting? Chalk Education is working with a welcoming and supportive special school in Longsight that places children’s wellbeing, emotional development, and positive relationships at the heart of everything it does.
The school offers small class sizes, excellent staff support, and a strong team ethos, creating a calm and structured environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Staff are encouraged to build meaningful relationships and support pupils in developing confidence, resilience, and engagement with learning.
In this role, you’ll work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to provide targeted support for pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. You will support learning programmes, implement positive behaviour strategies, and help promote inclusion and engagement across the curriculum.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children with diverse learning needs and disabilities
- Be Team Teach trained (or willing to undertake training)
- Have proven experience working in SEN settings or supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a resilient, patient, and adaptable approach
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children
- Have experience working in UK schools

- References confirming suitability for the role
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
- Eligibility to work in the UK – No visa sponsorship available
