Description

Chalk Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and resilient Classroom-Based Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a mainstream or specialist setting in West Berkshire. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in mentoring, youth work, or those who are psychology graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive impact on young people facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to help pupils stay engaged, regulate their emotions, and succeed both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis to manage behaviour and remain focused in lessons.
  • Implementing positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils to promote trust and engagement.
  • Acting as a role model, mentor, and consistent point of support.
  • Liaising with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals where necessary.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working in a behaviour mentor role, as a youth worker, or with vulnerable young people.
  • Psychology graduates with an interest in SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) are encouraged to apply.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient personality.
  • Ability to think on your feet and adapt to a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

What We Offer:

  • Daily pay rate of £90–£95, paid weekly.
  • Long-term opportunity with ongoing support from the Chalk Education team.
  • Great experience for those considering a career in education, psychology, or social work.
  • A rewarding and challenging role where no two days are the same.

If you’re ready to help young people achieve their potential and develop positive behaviours for life, we’d love to hear from you.
