Are you passionate about working with young people with Special Educational Needs and experienced supporting children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome?
As an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant do you want to use your understanding and compassion to support students with ASD in mainstream primary school?
As an Autism practitioner in a school, you will be supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by developing individualised education plans, adapting lessons, and ensuring classroom inclusion. You will create behaviour intervention plan, implement positive reinforcement, and facilitate social skills groups to help students build self-regulation and social abilities. You will also modify sensory environments, provide sensory tools, and work closely with families, teachers, and external specialists to create a cohesive support system. You will be required to monitor each student’s progress, document developments, and educate staff on autism-friendly strategies. Ultimately, you will be in charge for the resources and understanding these students need to thrive academically, socially, and independently within the school community.
To be considered for this ASD TA role you will need:
· Experience supporting young people with SEND, specifically ASD
· Strong behaviour management with de-escalation training
· Excellent communication skills
· The ability to build and develop positive relationships with students and staff
· A flexible and patient approach when working with children
Additional requirements:
· References confirming suitability for role
· Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
