Autism Support Worker – South Liverpool
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism? Do you have experience working with individuals with complex needs and want to make a real difference in their lives?
We’re working in partnership with a fantastic SEND school in South Liverpool to recruit a dedicated Autism Support Worker for a long-term role, starting as soon as possible, with the potential to become permanent.
This Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment, with outstanding facilities such as dedicated sensory rooms, extensive outdoor areas, and a team committed to every student’s development and well-being.
About the School
The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, medical conditions, and behavioural challenges. All students have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), and staff work closely with families and professionals to provide a tailored, holistic approach to learning and care.
About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, your role will involve:
- Supporting pupils in the classroom and during break/lunch times
- Assisting with personal care, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Working alongside teachers and therapists to deliver engaging, accessible activities
- Helping create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment
Experience with alternative communication methods, sensory integration techniques, or manual handling would be highly beneficial, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience supporting young people with Autism, learning disabilities, and/or medical needs
- Is confident with personal care duties
- Demonstrates strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Is caring, patient, and adaptable to individual needs
- Shares a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing
Requirements:
- Relevant experience and/or qualifications
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Suitable references
- Right to work in the UK
