Description
Chalk Education is looking for a confident, adaptable Teaching Assistant to join our alternative education provision, supporting a secondary-aged student on a 2:1 basis with a tutor. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 10:00am–3:00pm, paying £14 per hour.
This position is perfect for someone who thrives in varied, active environments and can bring a calm, steady presence to each day. You’ll work closely with the tutor to create engaging learning experiences both in and out of the classroom — from visiting museums and libraries to enjoying activities like bowling and fishing.
The young person you’ll be supporting has unique needs and benefits from consistency, structure, and positive role models. You’ll be helping to encourage participation, build confidence, and develop essential life skills, all while maintaining firm but supportive boundaries.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
- Remain composed and solution-focused in challenging situations
- Use initiative to adapt activities to suit the student’s needs and interests
- Promote learning in creative, hands-on ways
If you have experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, or a similar field — and you’re passionate about making a difference outside of the traditional classroom — we’d love to hear from you.
