Immediate start • £90–£110 per day (PAYE) • Monday, Thursday & Friday

The role

A welcoming two-form entry primary in N17 needs a skilled, resilient teaching assistant to work 1-to-1 with a Year 5 pupil who has significant social, emotional and mental-health (SEMH) needs. You’ll deliver trauma-informed, relationship-based support so this learner can manage emotions, access lessons and feel safe. The contract runs until July with every chance of renewal for the next academic year.

What you’ll do

  • Provide calm, consistent, trauma-aware support throughout the day.
  • Implement the pupil’s behaviour-regulation plan, sensory breaks and restorative strategies.
  • Use positive handling and de-escalation techniques when required (training provided if needed).
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, therapists and parents to track and celebrate progress.
  • Champion unconditional positive regard, modelling patience and resilience at all times.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience with SEMH and trauma-affected pupils in a mainstream, PRU or specialist setting.
  • Confidence in relationship-building and behaviour regulation with KS2 children.
  • Up-to-date Enhanced DBS (or readiness to obtain one) and two referees.
  • Team Teach/MAPA training, NVQ Level 3, or restorative-practice experience are a welcome bonus.
