Two-Form Entry Primary School — N19, Islington
Full-time, long-term | Start ASAP | £90–£110 per day (DOE)
The Role
We are looking for a patient, energetic and solutions-focused Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-age boy with complex SEND needs in an additionally resourced provision (ARP), at a two-form entry primary school in Islington, N19. Your day will combine structured learning in his classroom base with planned sessions in our well-equipped sensory rooms. Guided by our SENCo, you’ll collaborate closely with speech & language and occupational therapists already embedded in the ARP.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised support: adapt EYFS activities, visual schedules and PECS/augmentative communication aids.
- Promote regulation: spot triggers early, use sensory tools and implement calming strategies.
- Track progress: keep concise notes for ILP reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Champion inclusion: model positive peer interactions so the pupil feels part of the wider Reception cohort.
- Work as one team: share wins and challenges in daily briefings; contribute ideas that move practice forward.
About You
- Proven experience (paid or voluntary) supporting children with ASD, global-delay or similar profiles in EYFS/KS1.
- Clear communicator with children, staff and families—calm voice, firm boundaries, warm manner.
- Commitment to full-time hours, Monday–Friday, for at least two academic terms.
- DBS on the Update Service (or willing to secure one quickly). Relevant Level 2/3 TA or childcare qualifications are helpful but not essential.
Why Join This School?
- Specialist resources: two sensory rooms, soft-play space and an outdoor learning garden.
- Collaborative culture: weekly CPD, open-door leadership and genuine appreciation for TA expertise.
- Great location: excellent Tube, Overground and bus links plus on-site cycle storage.
- Room to grow: strong track record of rolling long-term TAs onto permanent contracts or funded HLTA/SEN qualifications
