Chalk is recruiting for this SEND Teaching Assistant position to start asap and is the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic Alternative Provision in Derby.
Job Description
This role will involve supporting Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. You will be required to deliver lessons and assessments in a creative way in order to re-engage students. You will also be expected to record and review pupil progression and liaise with parents, carers and outside agencies.
This Alternative Provision was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted and caters for vulnerable young people aged 14 to 19 who are not able to access mainstream education. They provide a bespoke education service to students with a range of Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They aim to help learners who face many barriers, to reach their full potential, using a holistic approach.
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Level 3 qualification in education, childcare or social care
- Experience working with young people
- Understanding of SEND, specifically SEMH & ASD
- Strong behaviour management
- Excellent communication skills
- Good knowledge across the curriculum
- Positive attitude and flexible approach

- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
