Job Description

Chalk Education is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Support Worker to take on a role as a Teaching Assistant. Our client school is looking for someone who has experience working with children and young adults with Complex needs, Autism, Downs Syndrome and Severe Learning difficulties. You will also need to have experience in manual handling, hoists, personal care and basic Makaton.

The school is a purpose-built special school which provides specialist facilities for their students. The team are passionate and caring individuals who want to offer the best care and learning experiences for each and every one of their students.

The role is to start asap and will be ad-hoc, or 1-2 days per week.

Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

 

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Minimum of 3 months experience working with children or young people
  • Experienced of supporting children with complex needs, Autism, SLD
  • Trained in PEC’s and Makaton but not essential
  • Experience working in a special school preferred

 

Additional requirements:

  • References confirming suitability for role
  • Commitment to Safeguarding
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willing to apply
  • Registered with EWC or willing to apply
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
