SEND Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs | Maidenhead

Pay Rate £85-£95 per day

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who specialises in supporting young people with Complex Needs? Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with special needs?

Chalk are recruiting for this SEND Teaching Assistant position which is a long term placement starting as soon as possible and is the perfect opportunity to join a nurturing Special School in Maindenhead.

Job Description

This role will involve supporting children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups within the classroom. You will assist the class teacher to engage pupils across various lessons with a multi-sensory focus; adapting activities to suit the specific needs of individuals. Experience and understanding of a range of SEND is necessary and knowledge of skills such as alternative communication techniques, personal care, manual handling and feeding would be beneficial. This role will suit a positive TA who is resilient and flexible.

Our client cater for young people aged 11 to 19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including complex needs, physical disabilities, Speech Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They have excellent facilities and aim to provide the best education to all young people, making this the ideal opportunity for a caring TA.

Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Be Fully vaccinated against COVID 19 (requested by school due to vunerable young people)
  • Experience supporting young people with SEND and complex needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with knowledge across the curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A positive attitude and flexible approach
