Key Responsibilities

  • Scaffold access to mainstream lessons—modifying language, tasks and materials for clarity and reduced sensory load.
  • Create regulation‑friendly breakout spaces and implement low‑arousal behaviour‑support plans.
  • Record progress against EHCP targets using agreed assessment frameworks; share clear evidence with teachers, therapists and parents.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture where neurodivergent students feel understood, respected and ambitious.

Person Profile — What You’ll Need

Essential

  • Practical experience supporting autistic young people or students with Developmental Language Disorder/SLCN in a school or youth setting.
  • Calm, solution‑focused mindset; able to anticipate needs and act proactively.
  • Confident written and spoken English for professional communication with families and multi‑disciplinary teams.

What’s In It For You

  • Meaningful impact – contribute to the systems, ethos and success of a specialist provision.
  • High‑quality CPD – regular in‑house coaching
  • Collaborative environment – SALT, OT and specialist teachers on‑site three days a week.
  • Competitive pay – £90–£120 per day (experience‑dependent), with clear progression to HLTA or therapy‑assistant roles.
  • Term‑time hours – maximise work‑life balance while building a rewarding SEND career.

Additional requirements:

  • References confirming suitability for role
  • Commitment to Safeguarding
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
