Chalk Education is recruiting for an SEMH assistant to support secondary-aged pupils in Stoke-on-Trent with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong presence, resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships with young people who display challenging behaviours. You will play a vital role in providing stability, structure, and encouragement to help students achieve both academically and personally. This role is ideal for a sports coach who can think outside the box with the curriculum and engaging SEN children in school life.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and group basis.
• Helping to manage behaviour in a calm, confident, and consistent way.
• Assisting the teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
• Acting as a positive role model for secondary-age learners.

Requirements:

• Experience working with young people who present challenging behaviours.
• Resilience, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• A confident, proactive, and supportive approach.
• Previous experience in an SEMH or similar setting is highly desirable.
