Pastoral Mentor – South Liverpool
Chalk Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Mentors to support the development, well-being, and day-to-day success of children within educational settings across South Liverpool.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for working with young people, strong communication skills, and experience within education or child-focused environments. You’ll play a vital role in helping children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically, while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
Please note: the advertised pay rate is inclusive of holiday pay.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised pastoral support to children, promoting their emotional well-being, confidence, and academic progress
- Support learning activities across core subjects such as reading and maths
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies to encourage cooperation and engagement
- Support children with SEND, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists, SEN specialists) to contribute to tailored support plans
- Mentor children in developing life skills, independence, and resilience
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Experience using behaviour management strategies
- A patient, organised, and empathetic approach when working with children from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to adapt support strategies to suit different learning styles and needs
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or related fields are desirable but not essential
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
