Job Title: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (EYFS – 1:1 Support)
Location: Parr, St Helens
Hours: Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: Monday 11th May
Contract: Long-term (until October Half Term 2026)
Chalk Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within a Reception (EYFS) classroom setting.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a committed practitioner who is confident supporting young children in their early years of education and who can make a meaningful impact on a child’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
Role Overview
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored 1:1 support, helping the child to access learning activities, develop communication and social skills, and thrive within the EYFS environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support for a child with autism in a Reception class
- Supporting learning through structured and play-based EYFS activities
- Implementing strategies outlined in the child’s support plan/IEP
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
- Supporting communication development using appropriate strategies (e.g., visual aids, routines)
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff as required
Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working in an EYFS setting (school or nursery essential)
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASC)
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and SEN support strategies
- Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Commitment to safeguarding
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
