The Role

We are seeking passionate and committed PMLD Teaching Assistants to join our team. You will be supporting pupils with complex additional needs, to create a fun, and stimulating environment that allows them to thrive and progress at the own personal rate. The children attending this school are looked after children, who age between 7 to 18 years of age, with communication and comprehension needs.

We ideally need 3 PMLD Teaching Assistants to join our team, who have sound SEN knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, to enable them to confidently meet the needs of the pupils throughout the school day, and provide stimulating and enriching opportunities for the pupils, both inside the school building and outside

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver creative and engaging lessons aligned with the school’s specialised teaching approach.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate a range of communication, comprehension, and sensory needs.
• Implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) to support the holistic development of each student.
• Foster a positive, nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
• Work collaboratively with SEN Teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to ensure consistent support.
• Monitor, and record student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to maximise outcomes.
• Engage with staff & external professionals to support each student’s development and wellbeing.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of sensory-friendly learning spaces that enhance accessibility and engagement.

Requirements

• Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience working within SEN settings, ideally with students who have communication and comprehension needs.
• Ideally have knowledge and experience of the EYFS framework, to implement and assess against.
• Strong understanding of adaptive teaching strategies and differentiated learning.
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to inclusive practice.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
